It’s often said birds are messengers from spirit, because they can fly to the heavens but also stand on the earth. And I agree with this statement.
For many years I have had an affinity with my bird people. This love came about because of the bond I had with my mother and her love of her beloved magpies. On her passing magpies entered my life and would show up in the most unusual ways. I remember a few years ago I was undergoing medical tests and my partner decided I needed some Pho to cheer me up. We sat in a crowded shopping centre waiting for our order. I felt drawn to look up and there sat a magpie. Our eyes locked and the magpie flew to the table next to us and I knew immediately this was my mother saying “it’s okay Trine, all will be okay. I’m here.” This was to show me my family in spirit were always close by watching over me as I walk along my path. No matter where I may wander I know they will be by my side.
Each year the parent Magpies will bring their babies to me and I love meeting each young chick and discovering their different personalities and traits. This year I have been introduced to their four babies and gradually getting to know them and gaining their trust. First thing before clients I go out and whistle them and shortly there after, I hear their calls and watch as they skilfully fly in and land at my feet. Well, actually if I’m honest. A couple of the young ones do still need some work on their landings hahah. And often they will call to me beckoning me to come and sit with them. Or sit at my work window calling, just as they are doing at this very moment as I write.
My birds will always be an integral part of my life. Why? Because I see them as my family in spirit and know they are with me for the most beautiful reason, love.
Death can not break the bonds of love. Love goes on even when our physical body no longer exists. My magpies always remind me of this beautiful fact. And I’m blessed to have their love.
